Dialectical Behavior Therapy or DBT is another skill I use a lot and I have had some training with it. It is fabulous for people especially with addictions. It was originally designed for borderline personality disorder but its been found to be effective with a lot of other things now and it’s really like cognitive-behavioral but on another level. Its working on the emotion regulation, the distress tolerance, the resiliency, the ability to bounce back from tough things in life that happens and being mindful & present. Those are skills I think we all need and we should be teaching our kids them, because research shows that the people that are good with these skills do good in life even when it hits you hard you can bounce back. You can make sense of it and you can manage your emotions. So if you find you are in a emotion dysregulation or having a tough time with knocks and hard things of life then that would be a good place to start.
