Motional Interviewing has been around for many years since the 1980’s and I really like it because it really fits with my philosophy. Really a process of coming along besides somebody and helping them to figure out what’s going to work for them. Its helping them to find the motivation inside themselves, we all have ambivalence; I should do this and I really don’t want to. Its that rock in a hard spot or teeter totter, that I can’t figure out how to get out of it. Thats what motivational interview does is to help the person look at what is really motivating themselves and make it stronger so that they can get out of that stuck place where you are sitting and spinning in the muck and mire.
